Background

MiDrive�s founder, Blair DeWitt, was constantly worried about the loss of his files, either because of the problems Windows has had over the years or the chances his laptop would become a casualty of his many road trips.

Backup solutions never really seemed to satisfy the speed, simplicity and flexibility Blair was looking for. The current solutions took too long and were too complicated.

Looking in his desk drawer Blair found a bunch of USB flash drives given to him at tradeshows and other places. Thinking that a USB flash drive would make for a truly portable solution � Blair looked for software to put on a USB drive that would grab his files, emails, contacts, bookmarks, etc. After trying several disappointing products in the market he wrote his own utility to solve this problem.

Others saw this solution and wanted one for themselves.

Immediately they started to provide feedback and suggestions that would make the solution even better and these ideas were incorporated into the software. Blair�s application was easy-to-use and was exactly what they had wanted for a long time.
